>> 11 augustus Update covid 19

As I informed you we are now in the seventh lockdown period extending upto 31st of August. As I informed you we have lot of problems. The life and the livelihood of the people are affected terribly and we are feeling the pain to our core.

Our present engagement is of two fold. Our foremost task is to reach out to all the children who are under our care. Our primary task is to take care of the children who are in the orphanages. We need to protect and take care of all the children in our orphanage campuses and to keep them engaged by the way of different activities of skill development learning as well as attend online classes. Our second most important task is to provide dry ration to the families of all the children who are at home. But of course reaching out to these families who are living in remote villages is a very tough and risky job for us as we have to overcome the lockdown protocols. But inspite of that we have reached out all the children providing the families with dry ration of food materials. I herewith enclose the materials we have provided for the families. I herewith attach photos of CHN sponsored Village children and their families.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you sincerely for it is because of your generous financial contribution we are able to reach out to the families of sponsor children during the covid-19 pandemic time.

>> 27 juli Covid-19 situation

Thank you for your appreciation of the information I send you regarding the covid-19 difficulties. From our side in addition to taking care of the children in the orpahanges. We continue to do relief distribution to the families of our sponsored children. It is a difficult task as the vehicles are not allowed to move around and people are not allowed to gather in groups. So we are going from village to village and distribute the relief materials at their door steps. We will soon send you some photographs. As for our covid-19 situation Tamil Nadu is still ranking in second state of the worst affected states in India. Our infection cases are between four thousand and five thousand everyday. Now the infection is spreading to the rural areas. However we are keeping safe as well as protecting our children and also advising all our children in the houses to stay safe. I hope and wish that you are doing fine.

India is racing towards second ranking in the world for covid-19 infection and Tamil Nadu is racing towards second ranking among Indian States.  The infection numbers are increasing and multiplying day by day.  Amidst all these serious infection race the government has opened up the lockdown and again we witness people crowding as usual in market places, train stations, bus stations, shopping malls and on the city roads.  We are indeed living in great risk and fear not only for ourselves but also for our orphan children.  In all our orphanages and handicapped centres the inmates are living inside the campus like a gated community thus protecting our children. Read the whole article here.

>> 25 mei VANAF 1 JULI IS HET VERSTUREN VAN POST WEER MOGELIJK!!

15 mei Pictures from Deet of the distribution of food materials to families who are unable to fulfill their basic needs due to COVID 19.

We are happy to share the pictures from the distribution of food materials to families who are unable to fulfill their basic needs due to COVID 19. The prolonged lockdown has put them into very difficult situation and they have no income for more than 45 days and are unable to manage their basic needs. With the support received from Childrenshome we have supported 70 families with food materials such as rice, dhal, oil, sugar, salt, chilly, onion, vermicelli, Rava, etc. we have distributed face mask to 125 children and mothers. We have made them happy at this difficult hour and they were grateful to the help. We thank Childrenshome and all those who have contributed towards this help. Thank you all. It was not just distribution of food materials but also a chance of education and motivation. When members entered our campus, we made them to wash their hands with water mixed with turmeric power and asked them to follow it at homes. We offered them face masks and insisted to use it when they go out. We also motivated them to wash their hands with soap and keep their house clean. To keep distance from others, we asked them to use umbrella when they go out. We are happy that we are able to educate them on preventive methods. Thank you once again for this support and love.

With warm regards,
Deet,
Antoni and Prema.

See here the little movie.
Kokila: Hi.. How are you?
Sankari: Hey hey don't shake hands. keep two feet distance.
Kokila: Why? Sankari: Now a days a virus named corona is spreading. Don't you heard anything about corona virus. Your mother is a very hygienic woman. She might taught you a lot about cleanliness. Can you teach me some.
Kokila: Yes she taught me. I forgot everything on seeing you. We should thoroughly wash front and back of our hands upto the wrist by soap once in every twenty minutes. Doesn't your mother teach you anything.
Sankari: She taught me as well that after washing the hands only we can touch our eyes, nose, mouth, tooth and ear. I bet your mother might taught more than this.
Kokila: Yes, she advised to drink clean water once in every twenty minutes, to take lot of vegetables and fruits, she made me Indian gooseberry juice and neem balls. What else your mother taught you. Sankari: She gave me boiled healthy foods. Don't you see I am looking very healthy?
Kokila: yes you are. OK bye see you tomorrow.
Sankari: Alright.
Nathiya: Hey girls wait, what you were talking about?
Kokila: We were talking about corona virus.
Nathiya: Oh I see. I tell you the symptoms of corona virus infection headache, stomach ache, suffocation, hearing ability will reduce, visual ability will reduce, cold, throat pain, body pain and arms and legs pain. If we experience any of these symptoms we have to immediately consult the doctor. The disease not only affect us but also spread to the people around us. Hence we have to follow the government guidelines on covid-19 lockdown. We should stay safe inside our home. We may contact our friends and relatives through mobile phones, it is best to avoid meeting them in person and to stay safe in the home.
Kokila: Ok. Sankari: Ok.
Valarmathi: Hi friends.
Kokila: Hi. Sankari: Hi. Nathiya: Hi.
Valarmathi: I share some preventive measures of corona virus infection I know of. Should use kerchief while coughing and sneezing, while going out should wear mask, should maintain a social distance of two feet, should not gather in the public places, while return home should wash the hands cleanly and thoroughly, should drink water often, should take nutritiously balanced food and should contact friends and relatives through cell phone only. We can protect ourselves from corona infection by following the government guidelines. Let us be awake, secluded and home. Thank you.
Sankari: I am then. Kokila: I am now.
Sankari: If we are together there is life. Kokila: Now, if we are together there is death.
Sankari: Millions of benefit if we live together. Kokila: If we live together it is benefit for corona virus. Sankari: Live in unity. Kokila: Learn to live secluded.
Sankari: Untouchability is a sin. Kokila: Untouchability is rational.
Sankari: Flower blossom by touch. Kokila: Corona virus spread by touch.
Sankari: Thank you. Kokila: Thank you.

>> 8 mei lock-down will be for another period of two more weeks

Greetings and prayerful wishes to you from Dr. I. Sebastian M.A., M.B.A. the Executive Director of St. Joseph’s Development Trust

5th of May- We are now being announced that the third phase of lock-down will be for another period of two more weeks.  We are continuing to live in lot of uncertainty and tremendous sense of anxiety and fear.  We are indeed really worried and anxious about when the government will allow the schools to function!  Our orphanage children are indeed exhibiting despair and anxiety and frustration regarding their future!  We are trying our level best to council them to keep calm and pin their hopes for the future.  We are helping them by sharing information on different television subject classes and other virtual modes of teachings.

For us as adults these abnormal disruptions affect our life to a great degree and we ourselves are undergoing an experience of uncertainty.  Think of children who are experiencing these paramount unbearable situations where their exam results not yet announced and many of them who were preparing for their exams that their exams were postponed!!  Their minds are pre-occupied with many questions.  Will I go to next class next year?  When is the school going to restart?  Will I be with the same classmates and with the friends as that of last year?  Whether I will be taught by the same teacher who taught last year?  These are some of the many hair-splitting and heart wrenching questions they continuously discuss among themselves.  At times they also counter us with these questions and in fact we also have no answers to these questions.  All that we can do now is to try to pacify and imbue confidence and faith and hope for their future.  I am painfully sharing these thoughts with you as soon as we heard government’s announcement of the third phase of lock down for two more weeks.

Yours Fraternally in Christ

>> 8 mei Greetings from DEET!

We wish that you keep fine and be safe from Corona virus. We wish that all the adopt parents and their family members are also doing good. We are fine and continue to be in the protected environment. The lock down is extended until 17th of May but with some relaxation in the green and orange zone. Green and orange zone are less affected zones but the red zone is much affected. Madurai and Dindigul come under red zone. Tirumangalam, the place where we live is a containment area and no relaxation until 17th May.

The adopt children and their families are doing fine. Agricultural works are permitted in the villages but this is off season and not much agricultural activities are carried on. We are in touch with all the families and sharing our love and affection for them.

With warm regards,

I am living in this orphanage for eleven years. our elder sisters use to conduct group meeting and panchayat meeting. In those meeting they pointed out my mistakes and encouraged me that I will be a good girl without those mistakes. If they find any good things in me they encourage me to teach other children those good things. We use to work as teams in the work assigned by brother. If our team completed the work earlier we assist the other teams. In this way we learned the coordination among the teams. Brother use to appreciate us. That appreciation and the team gives us boost and ability to enhance our skills. I got lot of friends through the team. My team members also advice and encourage me, through that I have developed many of my talents.See here the little movie.

Dear Jan en Lia, Bjorn and adopt parents and sponsors,

As we are all aware due to covid-19 globally everyone was affected either by the way of infections or by the way of death as well as the dear and near ones. In addition to all these primary affected people secondarily due to lock-down many poor marginalized and handicapped as well as the migrant labours are severely affected. In India these categories of marginalized people are pushed into starvation. As first selected list SJDT with the generous contribution from Donors initiated the relief work by way of supplying relief packages to very poor families. The relief package supplied to each family contains things such as rice, oil and fourteen other grocery items and mask. The package will meet out the basic food requirements for a month for each family. The distribution was organized with the permission from the government officials.

We take this opportunity to thank our donors who generously contributed donation for this relief work.
I enclose herewith some photos of our relief packages distribution.

Thanking you,

Dr. I. Sebastian M.A., M.B.A.

I will be a good girl to make Brother, Joselin ma and Devi ma proud. Before I was in lack of self-confidence and hereafter I will develop my self-confidence about my examinations. I will accept my mistakes and I introspect to correct myself. I will earn good names from everyone. I will listen carefully to the elders advice because it is for our well being itself. >> 21 april Update Deet

We wish that you keep fine and be safe. We are sad to hear that many people are getting affected everyday in the Netherlands and the death number is also increasing. We are concerned about all adopt parents and their families. We wish and pray that they are safe and be in the protected environment. We wish that you take good care and be safe.

Shops and markets are closed and people are not permitting others into their streets. There is more fear and anxiety. There is no drinking water supply to streets. A few farmers come to streets carrying vegetables and we buy vegetables from them. The lock down is extended till 3rd May 2020. We are informed that there will be relaxation after 20th but nothing is changed.

The adopt children and their families are safe. They are confined to their villages. We are planning to provide food materials to the families. We are in negotiation with a shop and when food materials are available in sufficient it will be packed and distributed to the families. We need to maintain social distance when we distribute materials otherwise it will become a big problem.

We wish you to take good care and be safe. We are sending our warmest greetings and wishes to all.

with warm regards,
Deet,
Antoni and Prema.

i) Cash Rs. 1000 / dit is ongeveer €12,00
ii) Rijst 20 kilo
iii) Dhal 2 kilo
iv) Olie 1 liter
v) Suiker 2 kilo

>> 8 april There are no corona infections by the village children and their families yet!

Infact we are keeping in close contact will all the village children through phone and local animators. So far every one reported to be safe. The children only express boredom and pain that they are not able to go to school. Many parents are asking for extra help by way of supply of groceries or cash. We are discussing what we can do. Please keep safe.

>> 25 maart  Bericht SJDT

>> 25 maart  CHILDRENSHOME EN HET CORONAVIRUS

>> Up date corona virus India

Dear Lia and Jan,

We bring to your notice that India is lock-down for 21 days. To prevent the spread of corona India is lock-down. The prime minister announced it yesterday and from today onwards the rules are applied. Everything is closed and people are not allowed to come outside. Roads are blocked and violators are punished. No body expected this lock-down and people are not prepared to face this lockdown. It is going to create lot of confusion. The poor people who depend on regular works will be affected very much. It is going to be very difficult life for poor people. The lockdown may be necessary but it should be exercised with advance information. It was proposed only for a week but now extended till 14th April 2020.

Madurai has three Corona victims and one passed away yesterday and this has created lot of fear among the people. It is going to be very difficult situation. We are advising our adopt children families to take care and be safe. We are also offering help to most difficult families. It is difficult time and we need to support them.

Corona is affecting whole world and going to create big impact on world economics. Let us hope and pray that the world overcome the issue soon. We think of you and send our greetings and wishes to all.

Be safe and remain healthy.

With warm regards.
Deet

>>  24 maart GEEN POST MEER NAAR JE FINANCIEEL ADOPTIEKIND!!

>> 18 maart We are shocked to hear that Corona Virus has affected many people in the       Netherlands

Dear Lia and Jan,

We are doing well but the fear of Corono virus is growing stronger day after day. Two people have already died from Corona Virus and many people are infected now. There is no school for children below 10 years old and maybe in few days’ time all the schools and colleges are closed. India is thickly populated, and the diseases can spread quickly. It is only a matter of time and we don’t know what is going to happen.

We are shocked to hear that Corona Virus has affected many people in your province and in the Netherlands. We hear not much about the Netherlands. In the news we hear only about China, USA, Italy and other countries. So far no news about Netherlands and it is shocking news for us. We have been thinking that you are safe but the situation is different. We are sorry for all those people who passed away due to Corona Virus. We pray that our adopt parents and their family members are safe and take good care of them. We request you to take good care of yourself. Please follow the advice of government and health department. Take much care. Please inform the adopt parents that we are much concerned about them. We send our love and affection to all.

We request Tamara to take good care of children. We wish the children to be safe and careful during this situation. We wish Bjorn to take good care of himself. Wish you all to be safe and good. We are really worried about the situation. We send our wishes and prayers to all adopt parents and their families.

Dear Lia and Jan, we request you to take good care and be safe. We will inform the adopt parents about the corona virus in the Netherlands and will ask them to pray for quick eradication of the disease. We will convey your love and greetings to all children.

Wish you to take care and be safe.

With warm regards,

Antoni and Prema.

>> 13 maart -  Photo edition regarding our children

Greetings and prayerful wishes to you from Dr. I. Sebastian M.A., M.B.A. the Executive Director of St. Joseph’s Development Trust.

I am happy to meet with you once again with this photo edition regarding our children.  All children have rights but many children don’t have the possibility of enjoying all the rights.  St. Joseph’s Development Trust select such children who are marginalized and deprived of their rights and provide a home where these children enjoy their rights.  All this is possible only with your cooperation.

>> 6 maart - Kerstactie 2019
